A Tribute to Walter Campbell a Friend of the Jennie Wade |
| On the 25th of November,2003 our dear friend and constant supporter, Walter Campbell died in a car crash in Pennsylvania. The contributions Walter made to the restoration of the Jennie Wade are endless. He appeared in the story in 1991 and was involved in the project as it moved into the Ohio River Valley. Walter was a driving force in this project for the last 12 years and was part of every important step of the restoration. He helped design and build the trailer that she rest on, he helped complete the superstructure of the main cabin and even designed and installed all the electrical that made her operate as a media center, Walter was there for it all. Walter was also instrumental in encouraging the project to be moved to the Ohio River valley for its completion. We are collecting photos of Walter and the Jennie Wade from his family. We will be adding many of these to this web site over the next few weeks. A special memorial photo and tribute will be placed on the boat, right over the electrical box, the last thing Wally completed. Our prayers go out to Walter's family during this sad time. Walter was a man with a huge heart, an unlimited supply of giving and a man of honor and integrity. His presence will be missed on this earth but his spirit lives on in the many things that he accomplished! |
